I have a students room with a 25l geyser I want to replace. I am thinking of an instant water heater. There is a shower, basin and kitchenette attached at the moment. Any suggestions? Dick

Eish, this is a difficult one.

Normal instant water heaters will require 3 phase power to allow you to shower.

It's fine for general, but you need POWER for a shower.

Can you go gas?

You looking to save power, more hot water???

You not try a solar geyser. Its not the expensive. Talking about R3K more or less

An induction geyser might also be worth investigating. Search google/youtube for video's explaining the technology behind them and benefits of installing such a unit. .

Sorry for the late reply, but induction and instant water heaters all have the same issue, HUGE power.

Most of them require 4kW to 7kW of power to function.

Yes, I reckon you are correct in what you say. Since posting the question I have had a water tower built, about 20ft above ground level, which should give enough hydrostatic head for the pressure.

I was asking the builder to get the run-off from the guttering as it rains every other day here, but he didn't know what I was talking about so in the end I gave up.

The water pressure is so bad here that when you apply for a connection they ask you to sign a waiver saying that you won't complain about the water pressure, I can pee faster than the flow here during the daytime hours.
